Snow Day Adventure

Well we got about 7-10 inches of snow last night.  Not the biggest snowfall ever, but pretty significant.  Jerry Grieser was supposed to come in to teach from out of town, but the toll road was down to only one lane traffic, which would have delayed him to the point of missing the service.  A ton of churches in the area canceled, and we, much to my disappointment, followed suit.  I just hate canceling anything, so I’m a bad person to make these calls, but I know we have people driving like 45 minutes to church, which wouldn’t have been safe, so we canceled.

So here we are at home…below are a few pictures of outside my house.  I went and picked up Becky G. from her house, because she was sort of snowed in.  (Which I wore snow pants, just for fun.)  She failed to tell me that she has a rock at the end of her driveway, which I totally jumped with my Suburban.  She bumped her head on the roof of the car…kinda funny, and thankfully it appears that no damage was done, at least to the car.  Becky’s head is yet to be determined.  (I was probably driving a little fast too…so it wasn’t all her fault.  But seriously long straight away in the snow with 4 wheel drive?  Who can blame me?)

We’re thinking about trying to venture out after lunch.  Maybe see if any shops are open, hit the mall, something.  I’ve decided that I really would like to take a sabbactical/vacation some day to like Alaska, Minnesota, Canada, something…I’d like to live some place for a month or two where you have to travel by snowmobile or dog sled or something.  Hunt rabbits, chop firewood, and other manly things.  I think it’d be awesome.  As long as you have the right gear, clothes, etc.  And a dog,….you’d definitely need a dog for something like that.

But instead…I’m going to the mall.  The total antithesis of my wintery dream.  Oh, well, maybe next year.
